Christmas Fair and Non-Uniform Day
We have a busy couple of weeks ahead of us starting with the Christmas Fair tomorrow, so here are a few reminders about how you can help.
- Every child brought home a plastic cup to fill with goodies to be sold at the Christmas Fair. Please send in your filled cup TOMORROW if you haven't done so already.
- Shop bought (so that we can check the ingredients list for nuts) cakes can also be brought in today or tomorrow morning.
- Any other donations for raffles prizes and stalls would be gratefully received!
- Gunge the Teacher! Children have the opportunity to vote for the teacher they wish to see gunged on Friday. Each vote costs 50p and children can vote as many times as they like! Children will be able to purchase voting tickets from the school office throughout the day tomorrow.
- Doors open for parents and adults in the main hall at 2pm. Children finish school at the normal time of 3.20pm, when their own stalls will open, selling the products they have designed and created during our enterprise week.
Finally, don't forget that as tomorrow is the last Friday of the months it will be a non-uniform dayin aid of School Council funds. Each child will need to bring 50p in return for not wearing school uniform.
We look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Fair tomorrow!

Entrepreneurs in Year One
Just like John Lewis and Marks and Spencers, Year One have put together the following video to advertise their wares for the forthcoming Christmas Fair...
Rickshaw Challenge
We have just been informed by the BBC that the Rickshaw Challenge Team are running considerably behind time today. This means that, unfortunately, we will not be able to provide the children with the opportunity to see Alex Jones and her team as they pass the school. You may want to take the children yourself; their up-to-date position can be found by visiting http://pudsey.viewranger.com

Literacy Morning
Following on from the success of our Numeracy Morning last term, we invited parents and Governors to school to see literacy lessons taking place and to find out how we had been developing the teaching of literacy over the past two years. In that time the school has adopted the Read, Write, Inc. approach to the teaching of phonics; developed new, highly structured ways of teaching fiction and non-fiction writing; as well as completely revising the way we teach spellings.
These are the comments from the parents and governors who took part:
“Very
impressed with the teaching – all styles! And excellently behaved children.
Well done!”
“A lovely
way to spend a morning and to see how well the children are learning.”
“Enjoyed
the classroom session. Sense of structure and direction.”
“Interesting
to see how literacy is used after the Read, Write, Inc. scheme. Very helpful.”
“Thank you
for an interesting and informative morning. Please congratulate staff and
children on their enthusiasm.”
“I really
like the fact that different styles are being taught.”
“A lovely
opportunity to see a real lesson. Excellent ideas to take home too. Thank you!”
“Lovely to
see children enjoying the literacy sessions.”
“Very
helpful to see how Read, Write, Inc. is taught. Will help at home.”
Enjoyed
this session. Very impressed with the lesson!”
“Interesting
to see how literacy is being taught. Feel more confident in helping at home.”
“Fascinating
to see the huge changes in learning styles over the last few years.”
“Thank you!
Very informative and great to see consistent and creative work.”
“Fun to
watch! A good ‘window’ in on how it all works. Each child participates and
seems to be enjoying the lesson. I liked that each child shows their work to
the teacher, so work can be discussed there and then.”
“Enjoyed
the morning. We watched our class following instructions.”
“Very much
enjoyed the morning – great work!”
“All the
children seemed to be very happy and enjoying the learning experience. Well
done!”
