National Park Ambassador Schools Launch
Today we hosted the launch of the Brecon Beacons National Park Ambassador Schools programme. Guests from the National Park, Natural Resources Wales, Mount Street Junior School, Talgarth Primary and Pomegranate Creative design studios joined us to mark the official launch of the scheme which we helped to devise and create.
The scheme is an exciting initiative that encourages schools to get pupils learning in their local environment. All the planned activities that form the programme involve children working outdoors to develop their literacy and numeracy skills but also their appreciation of their local environment. The scheme will now be rolled out to all 73 schools within the Brecon Beacons.
The National Park created a short film which is being used to promote the scheme to all the schools within the Brecon Beacons. You can view the film on the National Park website or see it below!

Armistice Day
The children marked Armistice Day and 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War with a special service organised by the Open the Book Team. All the children and staff dressed in period costume and took part in the assembly which included the playing of the Last Post by one of our Year Six pupils. The classes also took part in World War One related activities throughout the day to find out more about people's real life experiences at that time.
Thanks to the generosity of the combined churches and chapels of Crickhowell, each child was presented with a replica version of the St John's Gospel as given to each soldier as they left for the front in 1914.
