Newsletter - Spring 2015

Half-term complete and Spring around the corner!

We hope you all had a relaxing week off and are busy preparing for the Easter term ahead.  As usual, we have a number of planned social and fundraising events for the term ahead, along with news updates.
As always, we would be happy to see new faces at our termly Friends and Family meetings – these are not long meetings and are a great way to meet up informally to assist in supporting the school in whatever way possible.

Pantomime Refreshments:  Thank you to all parents/carers and friends who assisted in running the refreshment area during the Crickhowell Jack and the Beanstalk Pantomime.  All donations of cakes, biscuits and volunteer time helped us approx £250.00 towards general funds for the school.

Book Fair: Many thanks to those parents and carers who helped staff run the Book Fair at the end of last term and to all those children and parents/carers who helped by buying books!  The event helped the school raise £400 in commission towards future book purchases which was a fantastic outcome.

The Friends and Family group
The Friends and Family group meet once a term to discuss opportunities for fundraising, large or small and every idea is appreciated!   We are currently putting together a fundraising plan that will clearly show the impact of your funding donations and support.  Recently the purchase of additional 13 I-Pads has assisted the school in meeting ICT standards set by Estyn and the new outdoor classroom has added a wonderful dimension and learning opportunity for our children.

Dates for your diary

Easter Disco:  We are planning to hold a school disco on Tuesday 24th March to raise funds.  4-5pm  for Foundation Phase children and  5-6pm for KS2 children.  £1.50 per child to include a drink and biscuit.  Parent/Carers required to help supervise.
Table Top Sale:  We have provisionally arranged Saturday May 2nd as an opportunity for parents/carers/friends to buy a table space and sell their wares.  It is envisaged to hold this on the top playground area weather pending from 10-12pm.….more details to follow.
Quiz Night – back by popular demand!  Dates to be announced.

Summer BBQ – early diary notice!
This year we are proposing to hold an evening social event on Friday 3rd July (Pre Independence Day). Theme to be western, laid back and for all to have an opportunity to have end of week hoe-down and line dance with friends.  There will be the usual opportunities for the children to have fun but equally parents and carers too!  More details to follow….

Reminder for easy fundraising.
We have registered with easyfundraising.org.uk which is an entirely free service that allows you to shop directly at stores via the links on the easyfundraising.org.uk website and earn a cash back donation to our school once a purchase is made.  Donated earnings can be anywhere up to 15%, depending on the retailer and the product that was purchased. There are thousands of stores that are already participating with leading high street brands such as Amazon, WH Smith, M&S, John Lewis etc, making it one of the most effortless fundraising ideas for our school.  All you have to do is log in online to easyfundrasing.org.uk, search for Crickhowell Primary School Friends and Family, add the link to your tool bar and start making us money and it won’t cost you a penny J   http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/
